During the Event:

At the event, there will be many opportunities to give your team a unique presentation.

1)      Key points when ever you talk to event staff, judges, referees, volunteer of any type

◦     Introduce yourself

◦     Shake interviewers hands

◦     Thank them for volunteering their time

2)      Judges Room

◦     Some times you have to go to a special room to talk to Judges

▪     This is usually for special awards like Engineering Notebook, or Excellence award

▪     This is done at VEX Worlds

◦     You will have a limited time window, usually 5-10 minutes

◦     Good idea to limit yourself to 2-3 students, not the whole team

◦     Come with a prepared speech

▪     Have specific points you want to talk to the judges about

▪     Map out who will talk about what

◦     Give them something to remember your team by

▪     Pamphlets are really good for this

  • This allows you to have everything you would want a judge to know about your team on paper
  • Gives Judges quick reference to your team
  • Allows Judges to show other Judges what your team is about

3)      Roving judges

◦     Judges will rove in every event, including Championship

◦     They will come to your pit, and watch your team in action during matches

▪     Be prepared to stop what ever it is you are doing to talk to the judges

▪     Remember key point 1

◦     Demonstrate robot

▪     Show of the capabilities of the robot

▪     Show of aspects of your robot that are unique

◦     Describe what you have learned from building your robot or while part of the team

▪     Maybe it was a new arm or drive base design

▪     Maybe it was how to become a stronger team

▪     Maybe it was how you learned to communicate better

◦     Show off engineering notebook

▪     Describe the process your team took when building the robot

◦     Describe to judges your strategy for each match

▪     Describe how your team will work with your partner

▪     Describe how you scout out your opponents

◦     Give them something to remember your team by

▪     Pamphlets are really good for this

  • This allows you to have everything you would want a judge to know about your team on paper
  • Gives Judges quick reference to your team
  • Allows Judges to show other Judges what your team is about
